The "First China- ASEAN Forum on Development and Governance" co-sponsored by the ASEAN Research Center of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and the Joint Research Center of Huake Kungong and ASEAN of Kunming University of Science and Technology was held in Wuhan from August 25 to August 26, 2018. Dr. Tian Wenju, a researcher at the ICNE, was invited to attend.

At the meeting, Dr. Tian Wenju made a report entitled “Analysis on the Inter-regional Difference in the Impact of OFDI on Carbon Emissions: Based on Urbanization Threshold Model”, calling for learning China’s experience. Some ASEAN countries that are still in the economic take-off stage should put emphasis on avoiding the problem of environmental degradation caused by rapid urbanization. The forum attracted more than 100 scholars from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Chahar Institute, Peking University ,the University of Nottingham, the University of Chulalongkorn and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Laos.

  Professor Wei Jingfu, the director of ICNE, also made a special trip to Wuhan to attend this forum.
