The welcome meeting for postgraduate students of 2018 of Institute for China Neighboring Economies(ICNE) named Pass the Flame was held on September 16th, 2018 at the Australian Cultural Center of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology(USST). In order to welcome the freshmen of ICNE, the center's researchers, tutors, alumnus, graduate students at school, and special guests attended the meeting and sent their congratulations and encouragements.

Firstly, professor Wei Jingfu, director of ICNE, expressed sincere welcome and gratitude to the guests, and reviewed more than 10 years of history of the center briefly. Then he focused on the key research directions and future development prospects of the center. While welcoming the arrival of the 2018 freshmen, professor Wei also hopes that the students could pass the flame and inherit the good academic spirit of the seniors. Other teachers of the research center also expressed their warm congratulations to the freshmen from all corners of the country and wish that the center can achieve more fruitful results sincerely.

Combining years of experience with the teachers’ instructions, the partner of Shenzhen Qinghe Investment Fund Hu Ang (major in International Trade of 2010)  earnestly expected the schoolmates not only to develop the habits of doing things actively, being down-to-earth and diligence microscopically, but also to follow the mentors to grasp the ideals and the general direction of life in a macroscopic way so as to meet a beautiful future. Luo Ruijia, Sister of International Exchange Office of USST, Zhang Yanjun, Product Manager of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Shanghai Branch, Dr. Jia Tianming, postdoctoral fellow of Shenwan Hongyuan Research Station, and Mr. He Bojiang, Project Manager of Shanghai Science and Technology Consulting Co., Ltd. made encouraging speeches with a emotional heart, and expressed their willingness to contribute to the development of the center in the future respectively.

Mr. Zhao Xulong, Chairman of Shanghai Zhendao Information Technology Co. Ltd., Mr. Yang Lizhu, Director of the Management Committee of Shanghai Baoshan Yuepu Development Zone, and Mr. Qian Zhiyan, General Manager of Visual (Shanghai) Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd.,the guests who knew the news temporarily, also came to attend the welcome meeting. They all said that they could provide the necessary research data to enrich our scientific research content, and  provide students with certain internship positions, and strive to cooperate in some market research projects whenever necessary.

Xu Xueying, representative of freshmen, said that this unique form of buffet can promote mutual understanding and we can feel a strong sense of belonging. The freshmen will integrate into the ICNE family better and more quickly, and strive to become outstanding .

The humorous hosts Zhu Zhongjun and Guo Nannan’s interactive arrangements enabled sixteen graduate students of 2018, including 4 majors（international trade, international business, regional economy and industrial economy）, to expect the fulfilling life in the future.
