On the afternoon of November 6th, the conference of Economic Separation and Reconstruction of International Supply Chain--Seminar on World Economic Trends in the Post-Pandemic Erasponsored by the China Peripheral Economic Research Center of Shanghai Institute of Technology had successfully completed.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Zhou YiPing,the dean of Maritime Silk Road Institute of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Prof Huang Dong, the Director of theCenter for ASEAN Studies of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, as well as many outstanding experts and scholars in the field of international economic cooperation abroad, including Japan, Thailand, Germany and Kazakhstan.
Attendees have a productive discussion over China’s economic and trade relations with neighboring countries and Europe, how to solve the separationsituation, the reconstructionof supply chain and other hot and difficult issuesin the Post-Pandemic Era.Today's meeting is at the right time to promote cross-border movement of goods and servicesand restore market confidence.Chaired by Professor Wei Jingfu, Director of China Peripheral Economic Research Center, and Professor Zhang Yongqing of Shanghai Polytechnic University, the meeting was a great success with the welcome speech delivered by Professor Luo Lin, the Secretary-General of the Secretariat of the National and Regional Research Bases of the Ministry of Education.
Experts and scholars has a violet discussion about the economic separation and reconstruction of international supply chain. Professor Werner Rothengatter (Kalsruhe Institute Of Technology, Germany) called forspecial attention to be paid to the negative impact of the epidemic on globalization, transportation and mobility. It points out that countries facing the threat of epidemic should rebuild confidence in internationalorganizations and be on guard against self-enclosed nationalism. Prof. Zhou YiPing , based on his own experience in intemational organizations, analyse the historical significanceof China's"Belt and Road" initiative under the background of the great change in the century, and especially stressed the necessity and timeliness of the domestic economy to meet the challenge of theinternational epidemic. Prof. Kaneyama Ken(Sakura Merrill Lynch University, Japan)compares in detailthe history of Chinese, Japanese and Korean enterprises and thecontributions of the three countries in perfecting the supply chain of local and intemational markets.
Prof. Koji Ohira (Meiji Gakuin University, Japan), said the key was to maintain an interdependent marketeconomy with the highest goal of ensuring consumer welfare.In addition, Countries should especially strengthen communicationduring deregulation and ensure a sound balanced and mutually beneficial international economic rules to bemaintained. Prof. Xiong Bin(Director of ASEAN Studies Center of Kunming University of Science and Technology) , pointed out the importance of industrial chain decomposition and integration, industrial chaintransfer,and ASEAN is expected to become an important hub of China's internal and extemal circulation in thePost-Pandemic Era.
Prof. Zhang Xinxing (Director of Northeast Asia Economic Research), Prof. Gao Jian (ShangHai International Studies University), Prof. NataliaRibberink (Hamburg University of AppliedSciences,Germany) , Dr Guo Hui(NorthChiang Mai University, Thailand), Prof. JigerJanabel (New Vision, Eurasian Research Center, Kazakhstan), Prof.Masao Tsuri(Okayama University, Japan) and otherscholars have expressed their own views on the central issue from the perspective of their own professional fields.
At the end of the meeting,Prof. Luo Fang (The ICNE of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology) concluded that the success of this forum has helped us break the crisis of economic isolation. Thereconstruction of the international supply chain with mutual benefit and win-win has provided valuable referenceand inspiration.
