Dr. Qiu Chengli was invited to give a lecture on "Several Problems of Tumen River Regional Development in Northeast Asia"

On April 1, 2021, Dr. Qiu Chengli, deputy director of Science Communication Research Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences and deputy editor-in-chief of Northeast Asia Economic Research, came to China Peripheral Economic Research Center to give a lecture entitled Some Problems of Tumen River Regional Development in Northeast Asia for teachers and students. Dr. Qiu first reviewed the progress since the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) launched the Transnational Plan for Tumen River Basin Development in 1991, and combined with the complex evolution of international relations in the modern history of the region, analyzed the big country game, the Korean nuclear issue and the economic and cultural characteristics of Northeast China. Secondly, he shared some classic cases of research and planning of various regional economic development and his experience in scientific research. Finally, Dr. Qiu hopes that the students will read widely, broaden their horizons and actively master various advanced scientific research methods to meet the changing economic and social needs.

After the lecture, Professor Wei Jingfu, director of China Center for Peripheral Economic Research, presented the appointment letter of part-time professor to Dr. Qiu Chengli on behalf of the center.
