International Business Major, Grade 2023 Cao jijiao
On November 10, 2024, the seven-day study tour to Singapore organized by the Professional Degree Center of Shanghai Institute of Technology (SIT) completed all the expected tasks and ended successfully. I am very glad to have the opportunity to participate in this trip to the South Seas, and I have gained a lot. I would like to leave some words to remember it.
I. My overall impression of the city of Singapore
Singapore, an island city in Southeast Asia, attracts tourists and residents from all over the world with its unique charm.
1. Modernization and internationalization: Singapore is a highly modernized city-state with advanced transportation systems, excellent infrastructure and a wealth of cultural and recreational facilities. It is highly internationalized and one can feel the blend of cultures and diversity from all over the world. Whether it is skyscrapers, shopping malls or international cuisines, one can feel the international atmosphere of Singapore.
2. Tidy and Organized: Singapore is known for its clean and organized environment. The government manages the urban environment very strictly, with clean and orderly streets and good hygiene in public areas. Citizens generally abide by public order and are civilized and polite, forming a good social atmosphere. For example, if you don't recycle your own finished plates to a designated place in a public place, you will be fined; you must use the sidewalk to cross the street, otherwise you will also be fined, and in serious cases, you will be detained.
3. Multiculturalism: Singapore is a multiracial, multireligious and multicultural country. People of different races and beliefs live together in harmony, creating a rich and colorful cultural landscape. Whether you are Chinese, Malay, Indian or Eurasian, you will find your own sense of cultural belonging in Singapore. People of all nationalities can be found walking the streets of Singapore, all living in harmony, all very friendly, there is no phenomenon of cultural discrimination.
4. Efficient and Safe: The Singapore government is committed to creating an efficient and safe urban environment. Government services are efficient and convenient, and law and order is good with a low crime rate. Citizens generally feel at ease and secure, which is a major reason why Singapore is one of the most livable cities in the world.
5. Food Paradise: Singapore is a food lover's paradise. It is home to a wide range of cuisines from all over the world. Whether it is Chinese, Western, Indian or Malay, you can find authentic flavors in Singapore. Singapore's culinary culture is unique, blending the best of various cultures and leaving a lasting impression on the palate.
6. Greening and Environmental Protection: Singapore emphasizes on greening and environmental protection in the city. The city is dotted with beautiful parks and gardens that provide a great place for recreation and relaxation. At the same time, the government also actively promotes the development of environmental protection and encourages citizens to conserve water, electricity and other resources to jointly protect this beautiful home.
II. Feelings of the visit to the National University of Singapore
I applied to the National University of Singapore (NUS) at the same time when I was studying for graduate school. National University of Singapore (National University of Singapore), referred to as the National University (NUS), QS ranking of the top ten, is a public research university located in Singapore, in the international framework of the development of deep and high-quality education and scientific research on the occasion of the prominent display of Asian perspectives and strengths, is the Pacific Rim University Consortium, the Asian University Consortium, the Global Forum of University Presidents, the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education, the International Research Universities Consortium, Universitas 21, the New Engineering Education International Consortium, the International Collaborative Network for the Development of Applied Science and Technology It is a member of the Pacific Rim University Consortium, Asian University Consortium, Global University Presidents' Forum, Asia Pacific Association for International Education, International Alliance of Research Universities, Universitas 21, International Consortium for New Engineering Education, International Collaborative Network for Applied Science and Technology Development, and its business school is accredited by AACSB and EQUIS. At that time, I had never traveled abroad before, and when I was faced with the prospect of being admitted to both SIS and NUS, I chose Shanghai Institute of Technology (SIT), taking into account my family's burden and my own pressure. At that time, I was narrow-minded, thinking that studying in China was close to my home and safe, and I also thought that studying abroad would put more pressure on my family, and in such a situation, it would put some pressure on myself, and I am a person who is afraid of pressure. Therefore, I would like to thank the college for creating this opportunity for me to study and exchange with NUS, and I realized how good this school is only after experiencing it for myself. In the class of “Concept and Practice of Innovation”, Associate Professor Annapoornima M. Subramanian of NUS analyzed the multi-dimensional nature of innovation with his profound academic background and rich practical experience. Compared with the domestic classroom, the classroom here pays more attention to the interaction of students, and then explains and expands according to the students' answers, and the teacher will organize the students' classroom group mode, set a variety of goals, and let the students complete the interesting tasks by themselves to deepen the understanding of the learning content. However, what made me feel the most deeply was that every student I met on the road had a positive expression on their face, which I think is rarely seen in China. Therefore, if I have the opportunity, I would really like to study at this university for a longer period of time.
II. Feelings of the visit to Nanyang Technological University
When you walk into Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the first thing that catches your eyes is its beautiful campus environment. The campus is filled with lush greenery and fragrant flowers, as if you are in a large-scale garden. Whether it is the spacious roads or the quiet pathways, people feel a sense of tranquility and harmony. In addition, the campus has a unique architectural style, with both modern high-rise buildings and old buildings full of history, which reflect each other and together form the unique campus style of Nanyang Technological University.
As a world-renowned institution of higher learning, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) has a strong academic atmosphere, which is obvious. During the visit, I felt the passion and dedication of the students and faculty for academic research. In the outdoor lounge, students could be seen gathering together to discuss the topics on their computers.
Apart from academic and research excellence, Nanyang Technological University also emphasizes on humanistic care. During my visit, I felt that the university cares about the physical and mental health of its students. The university provides a wealth of cultural and sports activities and clubs, so that students can relax and develop their hobbies and teamwork skills after intense study. In addition, the school pays great attention to students' career planning and development, providing them with abundant internship and employment opportunities as well as professional career guidance.
III. Feelings of enterprise visits
We followed the Academy to visit O2Work and the Singapore China Technology Industry Innovation Center. The first one is responsible for researching on shared indoor workplaces, and the second one is responsible for connecting innovation and entrepreneurship programs between China and Singapore. Through the lectures given by the leaders of these two companies, I could feel the advanced thinking of the people living in Singapore. My deepest impression is that people in China will let us continue to study for a doctorate so that we can find a job, while the Singaporean enterprise leaders think that blindly studying all the time is not useful for our own development, and even if we study, we can't play a role in the social work. Therefore, should be actively involved in innovation and entrepreneurship earlier, their own experience of all aspects of society, in favor of future development.
