On May 6th, Associate Professor Qin Bingtao, a researcher at the Institute for China Neighboring Economies (ICNE), led a group of master students in International Business (MIB) to conduct an on-site research visit to the Baoshan Science and Technology Innovation Talent Port and Shanghai Baoheng Economic Development Co., Ltd. The aim was to gain a deeper understanding of the current industrial development and innovation achievements in Baoshan District and explore new paths for cooperation between industry, academia, and research.

At the Baoshan Science and Technology Innovation Talent Port, the visiting group was warmly received by the staff. Ms. Chang Jianqing, the deputy director of the Baoshan District Talent Service Center, provided a detailed explanation of the functional positioning and operation mode of the Talent Port in terms of talent introduction, innovation and entrepreneurship services, and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. The Talent Port, which focuses on the regional industrial demands, has established an innovative service platform to provide full-chain support for enterprises and talents. Its advanced concepts and efficient service mechanisms left a deep impression on the teachers and students.

Subsequently, the visiting group visited Shanghai Baoheng Economic Development Co., Ltd. Mr. Dong Haixin, the deputy general manager of Baoheng Company, along with several business leaders of the company and Ms. Chang Jianqing, attended a symposium with the teachers and students from University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. Mr. Yang Lizhu, the deputy general manager of the State Investment Group, also attended to offer guidance.

Mr. Yang Lizhu, a specially-appointed professor at ICNE, first expressed his welcome to the visiting group from ICNE and stated in his speech that as a comprehensive investment company, the State Investment Group is always committed to promoting industrial upgrading and innovation development. Baoheng Company plays a key role in regional economic construction, and the two sides have deep cooperation in multiple fields. He pointed out that in the current context of economic globalization and digital transformation, there is an urgent need for high-quality, compound international business talents. He hoped that through similar student visits and research activities, more opportunities and diverse ways for in-depth cooperation between the university and the enterprise could be explored.

Mr. Dong Haixin, the deputy general manager of Baoheng Company, then focused on introducing the company's role and business layout in regional economic development to the teachers and students, and shared the company's successful experiences in industrial investment and park operation. He hoped that through cooperation with ICNE, the company could introduce professional theoretical knowledge and innovative thinking to support the company in achieving breakthroughs in international trade and cross-border investment. He also expressed his willingness to provide more practical opportunities for students to accumulate experience in real business scenarios and consolidate professional abilities that meet market demands. He hoped that in the future, the three parties could conduct joint research on actual problems in industrial development, convert academic achievements into actual productivity, and achieve a win-win situation for the research center, the enterprise, and the society.

During the symposium, the teachers and students had a lively exchange with the enterprise management. The students, combining their professional knowledge, actively asked questions about the company's digital transformation and the impact of the international trade situation on the regional economy. Associate Professor Qin Bingtao discussed issues such as talent cultivation goals and industry-academia-research cooperation with the enterprise representatives. The three parties had a clear consensus and were willing to establish and maintain a long-term cooperative relationship.
This visit not only allowed the MIB master's students to combine what they had learned in the classroom with practice, broadening their horizons, but also laid the foundation for future cooperation between the Institute for China Neighboring Economies (ICNE) of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, the Baoshan Science and Technology Innovation Talent Port, and Shanghai Baoheng Economic Development Co., Ltd. In the future, the three parties are expected to conduct more in-depth cooperation in talent cultivation, scientific research projects, and industrial innovation, achieving resource sharing, mutual benefit, and win-win results, and jointly contributing to regional economic development and professional talent cultivation.
