On the afternoon of May 28th, Qin Bingtao, Director of the Master of International Business (MIB) Program and Researcher at the Institute for China Neighboring Economies (ICNE) of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology(USST), led faculty and students from the program to visit Easy Pass International and the Country (Region) Centers of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone successively. This activity was highly valued by USST and the Business School, with Shan Yanguang, Dean of the Academic Affairs Office, and leaders of the Association of Non-Party Intellectuals under the United Front Work Department of the university participated in the visit and research.
Upon arriving at Easy Pass International, Wu Xiaoqing, Deputy General Manager of the Big Data Business Department, received the delegation of teachers and students from USST and introduced the company's profile. As the construction and operation unit of the China (Shanghai) International Trade Single Window, Easy Pass International's Shanghai Single Window version 3.0 features 16 major functional modules and 66 characteristic applications. Its services cover the entire customs clearance process and major links of trade supervision, serving over 600,000 enterprises. It saves approximately 200 million yuan in costs annually for enterprises at the Shanghai port, effectively improving trade efficiency and optimizing the business environment.

During the exchange session, both sides discussed topics such as industry development trends, innovative applications of big data technology in trade scenarios, demand for compound talent, and the mode of industry-university-research cooperation, laying a foundation for follow-up cooperation.

After concluding the visit to Easy Pass International, the faculty and students proceeded to the Country (Region) Centers of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone. Under the guidance of Chen Zhonghan, Deputy Director of the Economic Development Department of the Bonded Zone Administration Bureau, Wang Yanhua, Chairperson of the Labor Union and Administrative Director of Waigaoqiao Group, Wang Qiang, Director of the Office, and responsible colleagues from relevant departments, they successively visited characteristic trade service platforms such as the International Wine Center, Cosmetics Center, and Watch & Jewelry Center, as well as multiple country (region) exhibition halls. Staff members introduced the platforms' operational models, special businesses, and key roles in promoting international commercial and trade cooperation, allowing the faculty and students to intuitively experience the FTZ's diversified trade ecosystem.

Subsequently, faculty and students held discussions with staff from relevant departments of the Bonded Zone Administration Bureau and Waigaoqiao Group on topics such as industry trends and talent cultivation. Chen Zhonghan introduced the practical achievements of the Free Trade Zone in policy innovation, functional upgrading and other aspects, elaborated on how the Free Trade Zone attracts global resources through institutional openness, shared industry insights with real cases, and engaged in discussions with teachers and students from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology on the opportunities and challenges faced by the Free Trade Zone under the new circumstances of international trade.

Shan Yanguang introduced the characteristics of talent cultivation at USST on behalf of the university, emphasizing the importance of practical teaching in cultivating high-quality international business talents. He expressed the hope that through close cooperation with enterprises, a broader practical platform could be built for students. Enterprise representatives also spoke highly of the quality of talent cultivation at USST and expressed their willingness to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the university in scientific research project collaboration, student internships, and employment.

As one of the practical teaching activities of the Industry-Education Integration Month of the School of Management, this visit not only enabled faculty and students from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology to gain in-depth insights into industry frontiers and actual business operations but also built a broader communication bridge for talent cultivation, scientific research cooperation, and other aspects between the university and enterprises.
